BCS Chipper/Shredder Discharge Screen, 25 mm

The 25 mm screen is the compost-maker’s screen for the BCS B-100 chipper/shredder. It sits between the fine 15 and 20 mm screens and the standard 35 mm one, reducing garden waste enough to compost quickly without slowing the machine down as much as the finest holes.

Feedstock for the Compost Pile

Whole stalks and leaves mat together in a heap, shed water and break down slowly. Shredded material packs looser, takes up moisture evenly and heats faster. Running end-of-season crop residue such as bean vines, squash plants and corn stalks through a 25 mm screen gives a mix that builds a good pile and finishes in less time.

Balancing Greens and Browns

Shred brown material like dry leaves and straw alongside green residue so the pile receives a mixture rather than layers. The finer particles help the pile heat quickly. Clear any wrapped stalks from the flails between batches.

Finer or Coarser

The 20 mm screen gives a neater mulch; the 30 mm moves bulkier material faster. The 35 mm supplied with the chipper is the general-purpose setting.
