BCS Quick Hitch Tang (Male) for PTO Attachments

BCS’s quick hitch is widely considered the most useful accessory it sells, because it turns an implement change from a bolting job into the flip of a lever. The system has two halves. This is the male half, the tang, which mounts on a PTO-driven attachment such as a tiller, mower or snow thrower and carries the drive into it.

How the Two Halves Work

The female bushing stays on the tractor. Each attachment gets its own male tang. To change tools, slide the tang into the bushing and squeeze the red lever to lock them together; to remove, release the lever and draw the attachment away. Owners who run several PTO tools fit a tang to each one so every swap is tool-free.

Male Tang Specifications

  • Mounts on: PTO-driven BCS attachments
  • Mates with: female quick hitch bushing on the tractor
  • Connection: tool-free, lever locking
  • Tractors: BCS models built after 1995
  • Not used on: Model 750 and 889 (HD bushing system)

Balance and Clearance

The quick hitch also moves the attachment slightly further from the tractor. BCS’s application chart calls for a quick hitch or PTO extension on several pairings, such as the snow throwers and the 30 and 40 inch sickle bars on the larger tractors, precisely for clearance or engine balance.

Choosing the Right Tang

Non-powered implements like blades and the Buddy Cart use the cheaper empty tang. The power harrows already have a tang built in and need only the tractor bushing.
