BCS 24″ Flail Mower

Description

BCS 24″ Flail Mower (BladeRunner)

The flail mower, which BCS also calls the BladeRunner, is the heaviest-duty mowing attachment it makes, and the 24 inch version brings that capability to the smallest tractor that can carry it, the 732. Dozens of vertically swinging Y blades pulverize grass, vines and brush into a fine mulch spread evenly behind the mower, rather than leaving clumps or long stems.

Fine Mulch for Cover Crops

Because flail blades chop material repeatedly as it passes through, the result breaks down far faster than the coarse cut of a brush mower. That makes the flail the mower of choice for cover crops that need to decompose before planting, and for orchard and vineyard alleys where clippings should disappear rather than lie in windrows.

Narrow Width, Real Overall Size

The working width is 24 inches, but BCS notes that the caster wheels add 7 inches to each flail mower’s overall width, so this one measures about 31 inches across. That still fits between many bed and row spacings where a 30 or 35 inch flail would not. The casters fold back out of the way for heavy brush.

24 Inch Flail Fitment

• Working width: 24″ (about 31″ overall with casters)
• Cutting height: 1/2″ to 4″, set by a control handle
• 732: 5×10 wheel upgrade required
• 739, 749, 779, 852, 853: mounts directly
• Not charted for: 710, 718, 722, 750 or 889

Accessories for Lawn Work

BCS offers a lawn-mowing scoop blade kit and an anti-scalp roller sized for the 24 inch flail. Scoop blades lift and cut grass more cleanly for a lawn finish, and the roller holds the mower at a steady height on soft or uneven ground so it does not dig in. Coverage is three years residential and one year commercial.

Choosing a Flail Width

The 30 inch flail clears faster on a 739 or larger and is the most versatile size. The 35 inch is for the heavy tractors and big areas. The 24 inch is the flail to buy for a 732, or for narrow alleys on any tractor that takes it.
