Honda FRC800 20 Inch Rear-Tine Tiller with Self-Propelled Drive

The FRC800 is Honda’s rear-tine tiller, built for breaking new ground, turning heavy sod and working large plots season after season. A commercial GX240 engine with 270 cc drives the wheels through a commercial-grade transmission with three forward speeds and reverse, while separate tines behind the wheels do the digging. That arrangement lets the machine carry its own weight forward rather than being dragged by its tines.

Loop Handle and Easy Turns

The loop handle lets the operator walk from the center, left or right side, so the tiller can run beside freshly worked soil rather than stepping on it, and it makes turning at the end of a row easier. A four-position handlebar adjusts the height, and controls for tine and wheel engagement are simple enough for rental customers and first-time users.

Protection All Round

A full tine enclosure and full-width rear debris shield protect the operator and leave a smooth, finished surface. Side shields let the tines work close to fences and plants without catching. A reverse lock-out prevents the tines from turning while the machine is in reverse, and a front guard protects the engine and provides a tie-down point.

Cyclone Air Filter

Honda’s Cyclone air filter uses a cup to separate dust and debris before air reaches the main element, cutting maintenance in dusty soil. Empty the cup regularly; it is the cheapest protection the engine has.

Breaking Sod in Passes

On new ground, set the depth bar shallow for the first pass and go deeper on the second and third. Trying to reach full depth in one pass is slower and harder on the machine.

Who Needs a Rear-Tine Tiller?

Gardeners maintaining established, loose beds will find the mid-tine FC600 or F220 lighter and cheaper.
