The HSS1332ATD is Honda’s best-equipped HSS model, and the extras are aimed at people who use a snow blower hard: property managers, farm operators and owners of very long drives. On top of the 31.9 inch housing and 389 cc GX390 of the HSS1332AT, it adds DC electric start, an hour meter with an auger lock indicator, and Honda’s Auger Shear Bolt Guard.

Auger Shear Bolt Guard

On most snow blowers, a hidden rock or frozen object breaks a shear bolt and ends the session until it is replaced. On this model, a torque sensor detects a sudden high load and immediately shuts off both the auger and the engine, protecting the machine without breaking the bolt. Shear bolts remain fitted as a second line of protection.

Hours, Not Guesses

The hour meter keeps an accurate record of running time, so oil changes and inspections happen on schedule. For anyone clearing several properties or running the machine for a business, it also gives a clear record of how much the machine is working each winter.

Resetting After a Torque Shutdown

When the sensor stops the machine, the cause is still in the housing. Remove the key, wait for all moving parts to stop, then clear the object with the chute-clearing tool or a stick before restarting. Never reach in by hand, even with the engine off.

Living with a Heavy Machine

At 298 lb, the HSS1332ATD is the heaviest HSS. Hydrostatic drive, steering clutches and the ability to roll it in neutral with the engine off make it manageable, and the LED headlight and joystick chute control are standard.

Next Step Up or Down

The HSS1332AT saves 22 lb and some cost if electric start and the torque sensor are not needed. Larger commercial properties may justify the 36 inch hybrid HSM1336i, with its electric track drive and automatic modes.
