BCS Spreader Expansion Kit

The expansion kit raises the sides of the BCS compost spreader so it carries more on each trip. With it fitted, capacity grows to 10.7 cubic feet struck level, or about 15.3 cubic feet heaped, against 6.5 struck and about 9 heaped for the standard box. It is made in the USA from 14 gauge galvanized steel, as is the spreader it fits onto.

Longer Beds per Load

The extra volume matters most on long beds and heavier applications. BCS says that with the kit the spreader easily covers a 100 foot row at a 3/4 inch depth, where the standard box covers about 100 feet at 3/8 inch. Fewer trips back to the compost pile is the whole benefit.

Load Limit Stays the Same

The kit adds volume, not weight capacity. BCS’s maximum recommended load is 1,000 lbs with or without the expansion kit, so with dense, wet compost or sand the box may reach its weight limit before it is full to the top.

Loading Heavy Material

Fill the box with lighter compost to the brim, but stop short with sand or calcined clay. Loading from a bucket is quicker, and a tarp over the box keeps rain off compost waiting to be spread.
