BCS Single-Stage Snow Thrower Shear Bolt Kit

Shear bolts are a deliberate weak point. When a BCS single-stage snow thrower’s rotor hits something solid buried in the snow, such as a frozen newspaper, a stone or a lump of ice, the shear bolt breaks first and protects the gearbox and rotor from damage. This kit replaces them.

What Is in the Kit

The kit contains two shear bolts with all the hardware needed to fit them. It suits both the 24 inch and 28 inch BCS single-stage snow throwers. Each snow thrower comes with an extra set from new, so this kit restocks the spares once they have been used.

What the Single-Stage Kit Covers

• Contents: two shear bolts with nuts and hardware

Replace With the Right Bolt

Never replace a shear bolt with an ordinary hardware bolt. A stronger bolt will not shear, and the next obstruction will damage the rotor or gearbox instead. Shut the engine off and disengage the PTO before clearing any jam, and keep a spare kit and wrench on the tractor through the winter.

For Two-Stage Blowers

The 28 and 33 inch two-stage snow blowers use a different kit with their own bolts for the augers and impeller.
