BCS 30″ Power Sweeper

The 30 inch power sweeper is the narrowest of BCS’s three sweepers and the only one that fits every BCS tractor, including the compact 710 and 718. It is sold as a snow tool, and light, fluffy snow on paths and steps is its most common job, but a rotating brush is just as useful for clearing grit, leaves and debris the rest of the year.

Paths, Steps and Narrow Walks

A 30 inch brush suits sidewalks, garden paths, patios and the walkways between buildings, where a wider sweeper would brush into lawns and beds. BCS lists jobs from sweeping light snow and sidewalk debris to spring clean-up, when the sweeper brushes road salt, cinders and plow sand off lawn edges after winter.

Angle on the Move

The brush can be set straight or angled to either side, three positions in all, and the operator changes it with a handlebar control while working, so snow or debris is always pushed off the path rather than along it. Heavy-duty nylon bristles give long service life, and the drive uses hardened steel gears on ball bearings in an oil bath.

Bristle Wear and Brush Height

A sweeper wears its bristles fastest when the brush is set too low and bends the tips flat against the pavement. Set the casters so only the tips touch, sweep at a steady walking pace, and let the speed of the brush do the work. When the bristles have worn short, BCS sells complete 30 inch poly or poly/wire brush kits. Coverage is three years residential and one year commercial.

Sweeper Widths

The 40 inch sweeper clears a typical driveway in fewer passes and fits from the 722 up. The 48 inch is for parking lots and large paved areas on a 739 or larger. For a 710 or 718 owner, the 30 inch is the only sweeper option.
