BCS Plastic Mulch Roll, 4 ft x 2,400 ft

The 4 foot roll is the width BCS recommends for laying plastic mulch over raised beds with its mulch layer. On beds 28 to 30 inches wide and no more than 3 inches high, it covers the top and both sides and buries the edges at the base. The roll is 2,400 feet long, and BCS describes its mulch as non-toxic and PVC-free.

Raised or Flat

Most growers buy this width for raised beds, which warm faster in spring and drain better. It also works flat: laid over a level bed it leaves 36 to 40 inches of plastic exposed, enough for two staggered rows of transplants.

Uniform Beds Matter

The mulch layer can only cover a bed well if every bed is the same shape and size. Forming beds with the BCS bed shaper, which makes a bed about 3 inches high and 30 inches wide, gives the mulch layer exactly the profile it is set up for.

3 ft or 4 ft Roll

The 3 foot roll is for flat beds only, with about 26 inches exposed. Pick the 4 foot roll for raised beds or wider flat beds.
