BCS Chipper/Shredder Discharge Screen, 15 mm

The 15 mm screen is the finest of the six discharge screens BCS offers for its B-100 chipper/shredder. Fitted in place of the standard 35 mm screen, it holds material in the shredding chamber until the 28 swinging flails have reduced it to small particles, producing the finest output the machine can make.

For a Fine Finished Product

Choose this screen when the shredded material is going straight onto beds or into a compost pile that needs to break down fast. Small particles have far more surface area for soil life to work on, so dry leaves and spent plant tops shredded through 15 mm holes decompose much faster than coarser material. The trade-off is throughput: material stays in the chamber longer, so feed it steadily rather than in armfuls.

Keep It Dry

Fine holes clog quickly with wet, green material. Shred damp leaves after they have dried for a day, and switch to the rods-and-rollers supplied with the chipper for anything soggy.

Choosing Screen Size

The 20 and 25 mm screens give slightly coarser mulch with faster throughput; the standard 35 mm suits general use; the 50 mm is the most open.
