Description

BCS 750 PS Electric Start Tractor, Honda GX390

Every implement on a 750 hangs from a cast-iron rear cover with a steel quick hitch tang built into it. BCS made the quick hitch standard on this model because it was designed to carry the company’s heaviest attachments, and this electric-start version adds key starting, with a recoil backup, to the same reinforced, geared-down tractor.

The Integrated Quick Hitch

Instead of a bolted flange, the 750’s transmission cover is cast with its own hitch tang, and each attachment carries a 750-specific HD bushing (two-stud for most tools, three-stud for the heaviest). Swapping from a tiller to a flail or snow blower becomes a matter of lining up the bushing and closing the latch. Budget for that bushing on every implement: BCS’s chart marks almost every 750 attachment as needing one.

Weight Where It Is Needed

A geared-down tractor carrying a 180 lb tiller or a swivel rotary plow benefits from ballast. BCS offers optional 76 lb transmission weights for the 750 and a 26 lb bumper weight kit to balance front-heavy loads, alongside individual wheel brakes for steering and a differential lock for traction. The PowerSafe oil-cooled clutch handles long sessions with flail mowers and chippers without the heat build-up of a dry clutch.

750 PS Electric Measurements

  • Engine and start: Honda GX390, key start plus recoil
  • Mounting: cast-iron rear cover with integrated quick hitch
  • Gearing: three speeds each way at 0.6, 1.4 and 2.1 mph
  • Wheels: 6.5x12x22″
  • Clutch: PowerSafe wet multi-plate
  • Weight: about 440 lbs with the 33″ HD tiller
  • Axle: differential drive with lock

Keeping Bushings and Tangs Clean

A quick hitch only stays quick if the mating faces are clean. Wipe soil and old grease off the tang and the bushing bore before each change, put a thin film of grease on them, and store attachments with the bushing facing down or covered so rain does not sit in it. BCS covers the 750’s transmission for life on residential use and for five years in commercial service, the clutch for five years at home, and the tractor for three years residential or one year commercial; Honda covers the engine.

Which 750 or an Alternative

The recoil 750 is identical apart from starting and saves the cost of key start. The 749 suits buyers who do not need the 33 inch tiller or the slower gearing, and uses standard bushings. The 889 StarGate moves to hydrostatic drive on the same engine for operators who want stepless speed.
