BCS 71″ Dual Action Sickle Bar Mower with Fingers

The 71 inch finger bar is the widest dual action bar with fingers in BCS’s range, and the one for owners with serious acreage of grass or hay to cut. It fits the 739 and larger tractors and is sold complete with its dual action oil-bath transmission.

Covering Acres

Nearly six feet of cut per pass means far fewer trips across a field. With the opposing knives cancelling most of the vibration, the operator can keep to a working pace that a single action bar this wide would not allow. On an 852, the front-mount transport gear and the mowing sulky let the operator ride out to the field and ride while mowing.

Grass, Not Brush

Fingers are the right choice for clean grass and hay, but BCS notes they can break in woody material such as saplings. Use this bar on established meadows and hay fields, and choose a bar without fingers for land that is still being reclaimed from scrub.

Spare Knives on Cutting Day

On a long bar, a broken knife section stops the whole day. Keep a spare knife or replacement sections and rivets ready, check the bar for loose sections at each refuel, and sharpen the working knives between hay cuts rather than in the middle of one. Coverage is three years residential and one year commercial.

Wide Bars Compared

The 82 inch bar without fingers is wider still but needs a 749 or larger. The 59 inch finger bar is easier to handle on a 739 and costs less. Choose the 71 inch for large, clean grass fields.
