BCS 45″ Sickle Bar Mower, Complete With Transmission

The 45 inch sickle bar is the first width that steps beyond the light tractors: it fits the 722 and every larger BCS, and mounts directly on all of them except the 750 and 889, which use the HD 2-bolt bushing. It suits pasture topping, orchard floors and ditch banks on a mid-size property. As with every BCS sickle bar, it is sold as a complete mower with its oil-bath transmission included.

Banks, Ponds and Slopes

Because the bar reaches well beyond the tractor’s wheels, it can trim along pond edges and down ditch sides while the tractor stays on level ground. BCS highlights slopes, ponds and low-clearance spots under fences as the places a sickle bar goes that a traditional mower does not. The transmission’s weight helps the tractor grip on steep ground.

Following the Ground

A swivel joint in the input shaft lets the bar rock to follow ground contours instead of riding on one end. Adjustable skids set the cutting height up to 3 inches, which leaves enough stubble for regrowth on pasture and keeps the knife clear of stones on rough ground.

Clearing Debris Before Mowing

A sickle knife cuts plants, not fencing wire, bones or stones. Before the first cut of the year on rough ground, walk the area and pick up debris, and raise the skids on stony fields. A chipped knife section can be replaced individually, but a bent bar means a long repair. Coverage is three years residential and one year commercial.

Choosing Between Bar Widths

The 40 inch bar is the widest for the 710 and 718. The 53 inch needs a 732 or larger. For faster mowing of big grassy areas, the 47 and 51 inch dual action bars fit the same 722 and up.
