Description

BCS 40″ Snow Blade

For light snowfalls on wide, flat surfaces, pushing is quicker than throwing, and the 40 inch snow blade is BCS’s pusher. It fits the 722 and every larger BCS tractor, angles from the handlebars, and is shaped to roll snow off rather than letting it pack against the face.

A Curved Blade That Rolls Snow

Unlike BCS’s flat dozer blade, the snow blade has a rounded profile. Snow rides up the curve and rolls forward instead of sticking, which keeps the blade working cleanly in wet snow. A lever at the operator’s controls sets the blade to five positions, angling the windrow to either side or pushing straight ahead.

Protecting Surfaces

Adjustable skids raise or lower the blade to suit the surface, so the blade rides above gravel rather than scraping it into the snowbank. The steel cutting edge is replaceable, and BCS offers an optional non-metallic cutting edge for fragile surfaces such as granite or paver walkways, plus an optional weight kit to keep the blade pressed to the ground.

40 Inch Blade Facts

  • Edge: replaceable; non-metallic option available
  • Tractors: 722, 732, 739, 749, 779, 852, 853; HD 2-bolt bushing on the 750 and 889
  • Recommended: wheel weights or barbell weight hangers

Plowing Before It Packs

A blade works best on fresh snow a few inches deep. Once snow has been walked or driven on, it compacts and the blade rides over it. Push early and often during a storm, angle the blade so each pass windrows to the outside, and leave space at the end of the drive for the season’s piles. Add wheel weights before winter for traction. Coverage is three years residential and one year commercial.

Blade, Thrower or Blower

The single-stage throwers lift and throw snow clear, which matters where there is nowhere to push it. The two-stage blowers handle deep drifts. The 36 inch dozer blade is the flat-faced tool for gravel and soil rather than snow.
