BCS 35″ Flail Mower (BladeRunner)

The 35 inch BladeRunner is BCS’s widest flail mower and is reserved for its biggest tractors, the 749, 779, 852 and 853, plus the 750 and 889. It suits large orchards, field margins, firebreaks and overgrown land being brought back into use, where every extra inch of cut saves passes across a big area.

Built to Run All Day

The input gearbox runs in an oil bath, with grease fittings on its ball bearings so they can be serviced rather than replaced. The mower rides on side skids made of boron steel, chosen for wear resistance where skids drag over soil and stone for hours. The flail rotor carries dozens of swinging Y blades that pulverize what they cut.

Matching the Heavy Tractors

A 35 inch flail is a heavy front load, which is why BCS charts it only for tractors with 22 inch wheels and the GX390 engine. Individual steering brakes on those tractors help swing the mower round at the end of a run. On the 750 and 889 it mounts with the HD 3-bolt bushing, the heavier of the two HD bushings.

Greasing the Rotor Bearings

Flail rotor bearings live in dust and moisture. Grease them at the interval in the manual and after every washing, pumping until fresh grease shows, and spin the rotor by hand to check for roughness before the season. Replace broken or worn flails in opposite pairs to keep the rotor balanced. Coverage is three years residential and one year commercial.

Wide Flail or Something Smaller

The 30 inch flail fits the 739 as well and is lighter to handle on tight ground. The BladeRunner weight kit and the 35 inch anti-scalp roller and scoop blade kit adapt this mower to lawn and soft-ground work. For pure brush clearing at lower cost, the 32 inch brush mower fits the same tractors.
