BCS Two-Stage Snow Blower Shear Bolt Kit

BCS’s two-stage snow blowers have shear bolts on both the primary augers and the secondary impeller. When either meets a buried obstruction, its shear bolt breaks and stops the drive before the auger, impeller or gearbox is damaged. This kit restocks those bolts for the 28 inch and 33 inch two-stage blowers.

Inside the Two-Stage Kit

The kit holds two shear bolts plus the hardware to install them. Blowers come with a spare set when new; once those have gone, a kit in the tractor’s toolbag means a broken bolt costs minutes rather than the rest of the storm.

Finding the Broken Bolt

If the augers stop turning while the impeller still spins, an auger shear bolt has gone; if nothing throws snow but the engine runs freely, check the impeller. Always switch off and disengage the PTO first, and clear the housing with a stick, never a hand.

Why Not a Stronger Bolt

A hardware-store bolt of higher grade will hold where it should break, passing the shock into parts that cost far more to replace. Use only the specified bolts. Single-stage throwers take the separate single-stage kit.
