BCS Snow Blade Weight

BCS’s 40 inch snow blade is a fairly light attachment, and on tractors with larger engines it can ride up rather than stay on the surface. This 20 lb weight bolts to the blade and holds it down, so it scrapes cleanly instead of skipping over packed snow.

Slopes and Driveways

BCS notes the weight helps most when plowing sidewalks or driveways with a slope, where an unweighted blade tends to lift on the downhill side or bounce over ridges of compacted snow. It is equally useful with the steel edge or the optional non-metallic edge.

Traction Too

Weight on the blade keeps it down; weight on the tractor’s wheels keeps it moving. BCS recommends wheel weights or barbell hangers with the snow blade as well, and tire chains help on icy drives. Together they let the tractor push a full blade without spinning.
