BCS 4 x 400 Spiked Steep Slope Wheels

The 4 x 400 is the wider of BCS’s two spiked wheels, a 15.75 inch drum carrying four rows of 2 inch spikes. It is meant for the steepest mowing BCS owners take on, such as dam faces, road cuttings and orchard terraces, where a broad base and extra spikes add stability and grip.

A Broader Base

Four inches more width per side than the 3 x 300 widens the tractor’s stance, making it steadier across a slope, and the fourth row of spikes keeps more of them in the ground at once. The drums stand 15 inches tall, 19 inches spike to spike, and bolt straight to any BCS tractor’s axle.

Working a Steep Bank Safely

Mow across the slope, never straight up or down, keep the operator uphill of the machine with the handlebars offset, and lock the differential only while traction demands it. Spikes damage pavement and lawns, so change back to tires before leaving the slope.

Narrower Choice

The 3 x 300 wheels are narrower and cost less, suiting moderately steep banks and tighter access.
