Yanmar YFM205 60-Inch Rear-Discharge Finish Mower

The YFM205 is a 60-inch finish mower for compact tractors, built to give large lawns the even, manicured cut a rotary cutter cannot. Three-point mounting means it works on any compact tractor with a PTO, including models without a mid-mount deck, and it rides on caster wheels so it follows the contour of the lawn.

Cutting Quality and Setup

Cutting height adjusts from about three-quarters of an inch to just over five inches using bushings, and the mower discharges to the rear so clippings spread evenly behind it instead of piling beside the tractor. The hitch is quick-hitch compatible with a floating top link, which lets the deck follow the ground independently of the tractor. The 10-inch casters use nylon bushings, and weight is about 628 pounds.

Getting a Striped Finish

Mowing when the grass is dry and keeping blades sharp does more for the finish than any setting on the deck. Overlapping each pass by a few inches hides the seam between rows.

Choose the YFM205 for tractors from roughly 20 to 60 HP mowing one to several acres of lawn. The 72-inch YFM206 covers more ground on open sites but needs more room to turn.
