Yanmar YMBSS10 27-Inch Middle Buster and Subsoiler for Sub-Compacts

The YMBSS10 is the sub-compact combination tool in Yanmar’s middle buster family, switching between a double-wing middle buster for opening furrows and a subsoiler point for breaking hardpan. At 27 inches wide and about 35 pounds, it is sized for tractors from 17 to 25 HP.

Two Jobs, One Tool

As a middle buster, it opens rows for planting potatoes and lifts them again at harvest. As a subsoiler, it cracks compacted layers below the tilled depth, improving drainage and root growth. The Category 0 hitch spacing comes with Category 1 pins installed, and the tool is quick-hitch compatible.

Using It Well

For potatoes, open the furrow, set the seed pieces, then run the middle buster alongside to hill soil over them. Swapping from buster wings to the subsoiler point takes a few minutes with basic hand tools, so one tool covers spring hardpan work and summer furrowing.

Picking the Right Size

The YMBSS10 suits SA-series and similar sub-compact tractors. Compact tractors from 22 HP up should look at the YSS20 combination tool or the dedicated YMB20 middle buster.
