Rider Coverage Without a Rider

A 72 inch deck is normally the province of a seated zero-turn, and putting one on a stand-on frame produces a machine that covers acreage while keeping a 73.75 inch transport width and a short body. For crews whose sites are large but whose access is constrained, or who simply prefer standing, it removes the usual trade between coverage and format.

Where the Deck Reaches and the Wheels Do Not

At 72 inches over a 53.2 inch stance the deck extends well beyond the wheels on the trim side, further than on any other Scag stand-on. That is what lets an operator reach under fence lines and past kerbs without putting a wheel there, and it is also what finds every hidden drop and root. The first pass on unfamiliar ground should be slow and high.

Chute Position Matters More at This Width

The difference between 73.75 inches in transport and 83 inches with the chute down is nearly ten inches, and on a 72 inch machine that is the difference between clearing an entrance and not. Getting into the habit of raising the chute before moving between areas, rather than only when passing a path, avoids the scrape that teaches the lesson.
