Scag AerStorm 30″ Kohler 23HP

Description

Scag AerStorm 30 Inch Stand-On Aerator with 23 HP Kohler

A stand-on core aerator with a 30 inch working width and a 23 horsepower Kohler engine. The operator rides rather than walks, which changes what aeration costs to deliver.

Aerating at Riding Pace

A 19 inch walk-behind aerator is hard physical work and covers ground slowly, which is why aeration is often sold as a premium service rather than a routine one. At 30 inches on a stand-on platform the same job takes a fraction of the time and none of the walking, and that changes it from an occasional add-on to something a crew can offer across a whole round.

• Working width: 30 inches
• Engine: Kohler, 23 HP
• Platform: stand-on, operator rides
• Action: core aeration
• Rated for commercial use

Turning a Coring Machine

Tines in the ground do not want to turn, and forcing a pivot tears turf rather than aerating it. The technique is to lift the tines clear before turning, or to keep turns wide and on ground already treated. Operators coming from a mower have to unlearn the habit of turning on the spot, and the first property shows whether they have.

Sell Aeration as a Scheduled Service

Aeration is usually sold reactively, after a customer notices poor growth or standing water. Offering it as an annual item alongside the mowing contract fills a quiet part of the calendar and produces visibly better turf on the properties you are already maintaining, which makes the mowing look better too.

Mark the Irrigation First

Tines at riding pace find sprinkler heads faster than a walk-behind does. Flagging them takes ten minutes and prevents the one costly mistake on this job.

The AerStorm Options

The AS30-23CV-DS pairs this machine with a drop seeder for overseeding in the same pass. For smaller or enclosed ground, the walk-behind B530B and H530A cover 19 inches on foot.
