Description

Scag V-Ride XL 61 Inch Stand-On Mower with No-Flat Tires

The 61 inch Kawasaki V-Ride XL supplied on flat-free airless drive tires. It is the only no-flat configuration Scag offers in the XL range and carries a fifteen hundred dollar premium.

One Airless Option in Six Configurations

Scag builds the XL in six standard configurations and offers factory airless tires on exactly one of them. A buyer who wants no-flat protection is therefore choosing this engine and this deck width, or fitting flat-free casters to something else and accepting pneumatic drives. It is worth knowing before settling on a different engine and then asking about tires.

  • Cutting width: 61 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck
  • Engine: Kawasaki FX Series EFI, 38 HP
  • Drive tires: flat-free airless
  • Fuel capacity: 12 gallons
  • Tracking width: 53.2 inches
  • Forward speed: up to 11.6 mph

Standing on Solid Tires

A stand-on transmits more of the ground to its operator than a seated machine does, because the operator is the suspension. Removing the air from the drive tires removes one of the few compliant elements in that chain. The platform suspension is doing more work here than on any pneumatic machine, and setting it properly stops being optional.

Solid Tires Show Their Wear Differently

An airless tire has no pressure to lose, so the usual weekly check disappears and with it the habit of looking at the tires at all. Wear still happens, and chunking at the shoulder from kerb contact is the failure that matters. Building a look at the tires into the same routine that used to include a pressure check keeps the inspection happening.

They Are Not Repairable

A damaged solid tire is replaced rather than patched, so catching kerb damage early is the only preventive measure available.

Airless Across the Stand-Ons

The SVRXL-61V-38FX-EFI is this machine on pneumatics for considerably less. Bluebird’s SVRXL-61V-40BV-EFI-NFT-BB pairs airless with the Vanguard engine, and on the V-Ride II the equivalents are the 52 and 61 inch NFT machines.
