A 52 inch V-Ride II exists and costs several thousand less, so this machine is bought for the frame rather than the deck. A Six Inch Top Cut Changes What You Can Take On

Most commercial stand-ons stop around four and a half inches, which rules them out of rough and seasonal work where the first pass has to be high. The XL’s range reaches six, so a single machine can do a knockdown pass and then come back down to a finish height later in the week rather than needing two pieces of equipment.

Cut High Before You Cut Low

Taking overgrown ground down in one pass loads the deck, buries the discharge and leaves a mat of clippings that smothers what is underneath. Two passes a week apart, the first at the top of the range and the second at finish height, produces a better result and less work. The XL is one of the few stand-ons that can do both.
