Description

Scag Cheetah II 61 Inch Zero-Turn with 36 HP Vanguard BIG BLOCK

This is the entry point into the Cheetah II range and the only configuration Scag builds without the operator suspension platform. A 36 horsepower Vanguard BIG BLOCK drives the 61 inch Velocity Plus deck, and the saving against the rest of the range is substantial.

What the Non-Suspension Seat Changes

Every other Cheetah II carries a coil-over suspended operator platform with the seat iso-mounted on top of it. This one has the seat mounted conventionally. On smooth commercial turf at working speed the difference is modest. On rough ground, or at the high end of what this machine can do, it is the difference between an operator who can use the speed and one who backs off to something tolerable.

  • Cutting width: 61 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck
  • Engine: Vanguard BIG BLOCK, 36 HP, carbureted
  • Seat: conventional mounting, no suspension platform
  • Fuel capacity: 13 gallons
  • Cutting height: 1.25 to 5 inches in quarter-inch increments
  • Blade engagement: Ogura GT5 clutch, 350 ft lb

Buying the Frame Rather Than the Comfort

What this configuration really offers is the Cheetah II chassis, deck and transaxle at close to Tiger Cat money. For an owner-operator who spends part of the week on the machine rather than all of it, that is a sound trade. For a crew running one operator on it forty hours a week, the comfort specification is not a luxury and the saving will be spent on turnover instead.

Deciding How Much Cheetah You Need

Take this one if you want the platform and can live without the suspended platform. If the machine will be ridden all day, the SCZII-61V-38CV-EFI adds both suspension and fuel injection for a meaningful step up. If the budget is the real constraint rather than the preference, a Tiger Cat II at 61 inches is the more honest alternative to a stripped Cheetah.
