Description

Scag V-Ride II 61 Inch Stand-On Mower with 40 HP Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI

The SVRII-61V-40BV-EFI is the widest and most powerful configuration Scag builds in the V-Ride II stand-on platform. A 61 inch Velocity Plus cutter deck is paired with a 40 horsepower Briggs Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI engine, which is more power than the deck strictly needs on clean turf and exactly what it needs in wet spring growth where a smaller engine starts to bog between passes.

Deck and Cutting Range

The Velocity Plus deck is a tri-plate weldment totalling close to half an inch of steel, with reinforcement plates at the spindles and cast-iron spindle housings running on tapered roller bearings. Cutting height adjusts from 1.5 to 4.5 inches in quarter-inch steps using a tethered pin, so a crew can move between a closely mown commercial frontage and a residential lawn without tools.

  • Cutting width: 61 inches, Velocity Plus deck
  • Engine: Briggs Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI, 40 HP
  • Cutting height: 1.5 to 4.5 inches in quarter-inch increments
  • Fuel capacity: 8 gallons
  • Drive: dual Hydro-Gear 12 cc pumps with Parker 14 ci wheel motors
  • Blade engagement: Ogura GT3.5 clutch, 250 ft lb

Standing Instead of Sitting

A stand-on puts the operator’s weight forward and shortens the wheelbase, which is why these machines hold a line on slopes that make a sit-down zero-turn feel nervous. Getting on and off costs a step rather than a climb, which matters more than it sounds on a route with twenty gated properties. The platform suspension spring can be moved fore and aft, with or without its spacer plate, to suit operator weight.

Fuel Injection and Running Cost

Electronic fuel injection is the reason to look at this configuration over a carbureted sibling. EFI meters fuel against load rather than running a fixed mixture, so the saving shows up on long open runs and on hot afternoons at altitude, and cold starts do not need choking. On a machine accumulating several hundred hours a season the fuel difference compounds into real money.

Choosing Between the 61 Inch V-Ride II Engines

Buy this one if your routes include heavy growth or long uninterrupted runs where the engine spends real time under load. If your properties are lighter, the SVRII-61V-38FX-EFI puts a 38.5 HP Kawasaki FX EFI under the same deck for less money, and the SVRII-61V-26CV-EFI drops to a 26 HP Kohler for crews who mow more frequently and cut less material per pass. If gate access rather than power is the constraint, step down to the 52 inch SVRII-52V-37BV-EFI.
