Description

Scag V-Ride II 52 Inch Stand-On Mower with 37 HP Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI

This is the most powerful pneumatic-tired 52 inch V-Ride II Scag builds, putting a 37 horsepower Briggs Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI engine behind a deck that most operators run on 23 to 26 horsepower. The pairing is deliberate rather than excessive.

Power Headroom and Discharge at Speed

A Velocity Plus deck works by moving air as well as cutting, and it is the airflow that carries clippings out to the side rather than dropping them in a windrow. Airflow depends on blade tip speed being maintained under load. A deck that slows in thick material stops dispersing properly and starts leaving clumps the crew has to go back over. Surplus engine power is really a way of buying consistent discharge quality at full ground speed.

  • Cutting width: 52 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck
  • Engine: Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI, 37 HP
  • Fuel capacity: 8 gallons
  • Drive: dual Hydro-Gear 12 cc pumps, Parker 14 ci motors
  • Width with chute down: 65.25 inches
  • Forward speed: up to 10.5 mph

Reading the Windrow

The clipping pattern behind the machine is the most honest feedback an operator gets. An even, wide spread means blade speed is holding. A narrow, heavy line means the deck is loaded past what the engine is maintaining, and the answer is to slow down, raise the cut, or accept a second pass. Crews trained to watch the discharge rather than the tachometer produce better-looking work on difficult ground.

When the BIG BLOCK Is Justified

Buy this where you routinely cut material other machines have to slow for: coastal growth, irrigated commercial turf in midsummer, or first cuts on properties that went a fortnight too long. On maintained weekly rounds the SVRII-52V-26FT-EFI does the same work for less money and less fuel. The same engine class appears at 61 inches as the SVRII-61V-40BV-EFI if you want the headroom behind a wider deck.
