Tank Size Decides How Often You Refill

The constraint on an application round is rarely the machine’s speed, it is the walk back to the truck to refill. Doubling the tank roughly halves those trips, and on a large site that is a greater saving than any difference in application speed would produce. The trade is weight, which matters on soft turf and on a slope.

A Full Tank Is Five Hundred Pounds of Liquid

Sixty gallons of water weighs around five hundred pounds before the machine is counted, and that weight moves as the tank empties and as the machine turns. Operators used to the 30 gallon version should treat a full XL as a different machine on slopes and wet ground until they have a feel for it.

Do Not Spray in Wind

Drift puts product where it was not intended and where somebody may object to it, and on a stand-on machine covering ground quickly the affected area adds up fast. Checking conditions before starting, and being willing to postpone, protects both the result and the operator who would otherwise have to explain it.

Watch the Boundaries

Neighbouring gardens, ponds and vegetable beds are where drift causes the complaints that end contracts.

Choosing a Turf Storm

The STS30-23BV is the 30 gallon machine, lighter and easier on soft ground. Both carry the same engine, so the choice is entirely about site size against ground conditions.
