Description

Scag Tiger Cat II 61 Inch Zero-Turn with 26 HP Kawasaki FT EFI

The Kawasaki-powered 61 inch Tiger Cat II runs a fuel-injected FT Series engine at 26 horsepower behind the widest deck in the range. It is the direct alternative to the Kohler machine at this width.

Three Blades Instead of Two

A 61 inch Velocity Plus deck runs three blades at 21 inches each. That matters at service time rather than at work: a blade change is three blades and six bolts, sharpening costs three times what a narrow deck costs, and a single stone strike can leave one blade out of balance against two good ones. Crews budgeting consumables by machine rather than by width usually underestimate a 61.

  • Cutting width: 61 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck, three blades
  • Engine: Kawasaki FT Series EFI, 26 HP
  • Cutting height: 1 to 5 inches in quarter-inch increments
  • Drive: dual Hydro-Gear 12 cc pumps, Parker 14.5 ci motors
  • Fuel capacity: 9.5 gallons
  • Forward speed: up to 12 mph

Changing All Three or None

Fitting one fresh blade alongside two worn ones produces a visibly stepped cut, because the new blade is cutting at a slightly different height to the others. Blades should be changed and sharpened as a set even when only one has been damaged. Keeping a second full set on the shelf makes that practical rather than aspirational.

Belt Routing Is Worth Photographing

A deck belt on a three-spindle machine takes a path that is obvious while it is on and impossible to reconstruct once it is off. Photographing the routing before removing the old belt turns a frustrating hour into ten minutes, and it is the single most useful picture to have on a phone when a belt goes mid-route.

Choosing at the Top of the Range

The STCII-61V-26CV-EFI is the Kohler at this output for a little less. For heavier work, the STCII-61V-34CV-EFI and STCII-61V-36BV are the substantially more capable options at a modest premium over both.
