Scag Power Box Rake

Description

Scag Power Box Rake Attachment

A powered box rake attachment for preparing and grading soil, levelling ground and producing a seedbed finish ahead of turfing or seeding.

What a Power Box Rake Does

A powered rotating drum breaks up compacted surface soil, pulls out stone and debris to one side, and leaves a level, tilled finish in a single pass. The alternative is a rotavator followed by hand raking and stone picking, which on anything larger than a domestic garden is a day’s work rather than an hour’s. It is the standard tool for soil preparation on landscaping projects.

• Type: powered box rake attachment
• Function: soil preparation, levelling and stone removal
• Application: seedbed preparation ahead of turfing or seeding
• Rated for commercial use

Angle the Drum to Windrow Stone

Set square, the rake levels. Set at an angle, it carries stone and debris to one side and leaves it in a row that can be collected in one run rather than picked across the whole area. Working a site square first and then angled is usually faster than trying to do both jobs in one pass.

Work Damp Soil, Not Wet or Dry

Soil that is too dry will not break down and the rake simply skims it; soil that is too wet smears and balls rather than tilling. A day or two after rain is usually right, and testing a corner before committing to the whole area settles it in minutes rather than producing a site that has to be done twice.

Do Not Over-Work It

Repeated passes break soil structure down to a fine powder that caps in the first rain and sheds water rather than absorbing it.

Confirm the Carrier Before Ordering

Attachments of this type are specific to the machine they mount on, and a box rake is a substantial item to have arrive with the wrong interface. Check the mounting on your carrier against this attachment rather than relying on the brand matching, particularly if the carrier is not a current model.
