Description

Scag Cheetah II 72 Inch Zero-Turn with 37 HP Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI

This is the entry point into the 72 inch Cheetah II, running a fuel-injected 37 horsepower Vanguard BIG BLOCK. Combining the widest deck in the range with the fastest chassis Scag builds produces the highest theoretical output of any machine in the catalog.

Width and Speed Multiply

Productivity on a mower is deck width times ground speed, which means the two variables compound rather than add. A 72 inch deck is 18 percent wider than a 61, and on open ground where the machine can hold low range at speed that advantage applies to every minute of the job rather than to a percentage of it. On the right site nothing else in the Scag range covers ground faster.

  • Cutting width: 72 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck
  • Engine: Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI, 37 HP
  • Ground speed: 12 mph low range, 16 mph high range
  • Fuel capacity: 13 gallons
  • Length: 91 to 97.5 inches
  • Weight: 1,399 to 1,427 lbs

Only on the Right Ground

The same arithmetic works against the machine on broken sites. Every obstacle forces a turn, and a 72 inch deck turns in a wider arc and needs more clean-up passes around each tree ring and bed than a narrower one. A property with a dozen obstacles per acre will finish sooner on a 61. It is worth timing one real site both ways before committing a fleet.

Drive Tire Pressure Levels the Deck

A wide deck is only level if the machine under it is, and a few pounds of difference between the two drive tires tilts a 72 inch cut enough to see. The symptom is a strip that looks lower on one side across the whole property, and it is almost always mistaken for a deck adjustment problem. Check both tires with a gauge before touching anything on the deck.

Reading the 72 Inch Options

This is the least expensive route to the widest deck. The SCZII-72V-38CV-EFI and SCZII-72V-38FX-EFI step up to 38 horsepower with Kohler and Kawasaki engines, and the SCZII-72V-40BV-EFI tops the range at 40. If your sites need rear discharge at this width, the SCZII-72RD-40BV-EFI is the alternative.
