Honda EU1000i 1,000 Watt Ultra-Light Inverter Generator

At 28.7 lb, the EU1000i is the smallest generator in Honda’s lineup. It produces 900 watts continuous and 1,000 at peak from a 49.4 cc GXH50 engine, enough for a television, lights, fans, a laptop or a small device charging station, and it runs at 42 to 50 dB(A), quiet enough for a campground at night.

Small Tank, Thrifty Engine

The tank holds 0.55 gallon. Honda’s Eco Throttle lets engine speed follow the load, so at a quarter load the EU1000i runs about 6.8 hours and at its full rating about 3.0 hours. For a weekend of lights and devices that usually means one refill per evening, and a gallon can of fuel goes a long way.

Two Units, Double the Output

When one EU1000i is not enough, two identical units can be linked with an optional parallel cable or cord for up to 2,000 watts. Many owners find two small generators easier to carry than one large one, and the pair can split up again when only a little power is needed.

Clean Power and Built-In Protection

Inverter output is stable enough for computers and other sensitive devices. CO-MINDER monitors carbon monoxide and shuts the engine down if levels around it rise, which matters when camping near tents and vans. Oil Alert and overload protection cover the engine and alternator, and a USDA-qualified spark arrestor allows use where one is required on public land.

Use Fresh Fuel in a Tiny Tank

A carburetor this small is the first to suffer from old fuel. Buy only what a trip will use, add stabilizer to anything kept longer, and run the tank dry before putting the generator away.

Outgrowing the EU1000i
