Honda HRX-BE 21 Inch Battery Mower with Two Battery Bays and Roto-Stop

The HRX-BE is the most fully featured battery mower in Honda’s residential range. It carries the HRX line’s NeXite deck and 4-in-1 Versamow cutting system, adds a second battery bay for longer sessions, and is the residential battery model with Honda’s Roto-Stop blade stop. A 12 Ah battery and charger are included in the box.

Run Time You Can Extend

The included 12 Ah pack delivers up to 45 minutes of mowing, depending on conditions. Because the deck has two battery bays, adding an optional second 12 Ah pack adds roughly another 45 minutes, so a larger suburban lot can be finished in a single session rather than split across two charges. The brushless motor is rated at 1.5 kW, which Honda compares to its GCV170 gas engine, and forced-air cooling keeps it running cool in heat and heavy grass.

Roto-Stop and eSelect Drive

Roto-Stop lets the mower drive itself with the blades stopped, which saves charge when crossing a driveway or gravel path to reach another part of the yard. Ground speed is set from 0 to 4 mph with Honda’s push-button eSelect Drive, and an LED headlight helps at the edges of the day.

Clip Director for Leaves and Grass

The 10-position Clip Director sends clippings to the bag, mulches them, or splits between the two, and the same mower shreds autumn leaves or uses its rear discharge door with no attachments. MicroCut twin blades give four cutting edges for fine clippings, which Honda says lets the bag hold enough to mow 30 percent farther before emptying.

Charging Habit

Batteries do not belong in an unheated shed over winter. Bring the packs indoors to a cool, dry shelf for the cold months, and give each a full charge on the night before the first spring cut.

Comparing Honda Battery Mowers

The HRX-BV shares the deck and Versamow system but has one battery bay, an 8 Ah pack and no Roto-Stop. Landscapers should look at the commercial HRC-BE with its 2.0 kW motor and steel deck.
