BCS Chipper/Shredder Discharge Screen, 35 mm

This is the 35 mm (1 3/8 inch) discharge screen, the size BCS fits to its B-100 chipper/shredder as standard. It is sold here as a replacement, for owners whose original screen has worn, bent or gone missing, or who swap between sizes and want the standard screen back on hand.

The All-Round Size

Shredded material leaves the chipper only once it is small enough to pass through the screen’s holes, so the screen sets the size of the finished product. The 35 mm holes are a middle setting: fine enough to make a useful mulch from leaves and garden waste, open enough to keep material moving through the 28 flails at a good pace. For most mixed garden debris it is the screen to leave in.

Signs a Screen Needs Replacing

Holes worn oval or torn between them let oversized pieces through, and a dented screen can rub on the flails. Inspect it whenever it comes out, and replace it if the holes have stretched noticeably or the frame is bent.

Other Sizes

BCS offers 15, 20, 25, 30 and 50 mm screens for finer or coarser output, and the rods-and-rollers set that comes with the chipper replaces the screen entirely for wet material.
