A farm with several people on one tractor is the buyer BCS had in mind for this machine. The electric-start 739 PS combines key starting, a Honda GX340 engine and the oil-cooled PowerSafe clutch, which BCS describes as more forgiving of the varied habits of employees, interns and visiting relatives than a dry clutch. A recoil starter remains as a backup if the battery is ever low.

Built for Shared Use

The two features that matter when a tractor passes between operators are how easily it starts and how well it tolerates rough clutch work. Key start removes the first problem; the hydro-mechanical PowerSafe clutch addresses the second, and BCS backs it with five years of residential coverage. A parking brake, and handlebars that adjust to seven heights and three offsets in seconds, mean each operator can set the machine up for themselves before starting.

Nearly the Whole Attachment Range

BCS says the 739 runs virtually all of its attachments. That includes the 30 inch tiller and precision depth roller, the 21, 30 and 32 inch power harrows (with the Quick Hitch Bushing and a Bumper Weight Kit), the power potato digger, the 24 and 30 inch flail mowers, the RollerBlade flail, the pressure washer and water transfer pump on the Power Cradle, and the 28 inch two-stage snow blower. The 38 inch lawn mower and the double belt hay rake mount with a quick hitch or PTO extension.

A Pre-Start Routine for Every Operator

When several people use one tractor, a laminated card on the handlebar listing the daily checks (engine oil, gearbox level, tire pressure, guard in place, PTO disengaged before starting) catches problems that each operator assumes someone else looked at. BCS covers the gearbox for life on residential use and five years commercially, the tractor for three years residential and one year commercial; Honda warrants the engine.

Recoil, Electric, or a 749

The recoil 739 is the same tractor at a lower price for owners who start it once a session. The 749 PS steps up to a Honda GX390 and adds the 33 inch two-stage blower, 32 inch brush mower, 35 inch flail, potato planter and the 82 inch dual action bar. Nothing smaller than the 739 carries the PowerSafe clutch.
