Description

BCS 722 Two-Wheel Tractor with Honda GX240 Recoil Engine

BCS describes the 722 as the most popular of its straight-axle tractors, and the reason is reach: it is the smallest BCS that runs a chipper, a trailer, a dozer blade and a snow blade alongside the garden tools. It pairs the 718’s all-gear drive and handlebar system with a Honda GX240 and larger wheels, giving it more traction and ground clearance on uneven ground. It is sold with recoil start.

Power for Wider Tools

The extra displacement lets the 722 run larger versions of the 710 and 718 attachments, including the 26 inch tiller, the 45 inch sickle bar mower, the 47 and 51 inch dual action mowers, the 28 inch snow thrower and the 40 inch power sweeper. The heat-treated gears and spring-loaded double cone clutch are the same proven layout, with two working speeds in each direction at 0.68 and 1.4 mph and a 7.6 mph transport gear when working from the rear.

The Jobs Smaller Tractors Cannot Do

From the 722 up, the attachment list widens to the chipper/shredder, power ridger, 21 inch power harrow (with the Quick Hitch Bushing and a Bumper Weight Kit), mowing sulky, 40 inch snow blade and 36 inch dozer blade, where wheel weights help traction. The spreader, log splitter and utility trailer mount with the small curved coupler, the splitter also needing the Power Cradle. The 21 and 26 inch brush mowers and single belt hay rake require the 5×10 wheel upgrade.

Checking Gearbox Oil Each Season

An oil-bath gear transmission lasts as long as BCS’s warranty implies only if the oil is there. Park the tractor level, check the gearbox level at the start of each season and after any long session on the chipper or trailer, and look for weeping at the PTO seal. BCS covers the transmission for life on residential use and for five years commercially; the rest of the tractor carries three years residential and one year commercial, and Honda covers the engine.

When a Bigger BCS Makes Sense

The 718 is lighter and cheaper but stops at the 20 inch tiller and the core garden tools. The 732 moves to a Kohler CH395 with electric start available and adds the 53 inch sickle bar, the dethatcher and tillage tools such as the rotary plow. Buyers who want the 30 inch tiller or the PowerSafe clutch should start at the 739.
