BCS 38″ Lawn Mower with Catcher

The 38 inch lawn mower is BCS’s big lawn tool, a two-blade, 213 lb mower with a steel deck and a 4 bushel bag that empties from the top. It fits the 739 and larger tractors and suits estates, grounds and institutions that want a bagged, manicured finish on large lawns without a riding mower.

Two Blades, Two Discharges

Each of the two blades has its own discharge chute into the bag, so as much of the clipping as possible ends up in the catcher. The blade tips are hinged, folding back if they strike a rock, stump or hard edge, which protects the drive. Like the 22 inch, blade height is set by a lever on top of the deck, moving the blades on splined shafts rather than moving the deck.

Front-Dumping Bag

The 4 bushel bag sits on top of the mower and pivots up and forward to dump, so the operator empties it without lifting it off. It can be removed for side discharge, with the port above the deck to spread clippings widely. Cutting height runs from 2.5 to 4 inches, a taller range suited to larger, healthier turf.

Riding While Mowing

BCS points large-lawn owners to its mowing sulky, which lets the operator ride behind the tractor with the mower on the front. Make long straight runs with wide turns at the end, overlap each pass a few inches, and empty the bag at the same spot each time to save walking. Coverage is three years residential and one year commercial.

Choosing a Lawn Mower

The 22 inch mower is for the 710 to 732, which cannot run this one. The 30 inch HD combo mower suits ground that mixes lawn with rough areas. The 38 inch is the choice for large lawns that are mown regularly.
