BCS 33″ HD Rear-Tine Tiller for the Model 750

The 33 inch HD tiller is the heaviest-duty tillage tool BCS makes, and it fits one tractor only, the 750 PS. At almost twice the weight of the 30 inch standard tiller, it has larger tines and heavier components throughout, tilling a wider path and deeper in a single pass. BCS presents it as the logical choice for commercial growers whose time is the limiting factor.

Why Only the 750

The weight is the reason. The 750 carries it on a heavy-duty cast-iron mounting with an integrated quick hitch, and the tiller connects through the HD 3-bolt bushing. An optional 76 lb transmission weight kit mounts between engine and axle to counterbalance the tiller at the row end. The 750’s reduction gearing also produces about 30 percent more tine bites per foot of travel than other tractors on 22 inch tires, which BCS highlights for hard ground and power composting cover crops.

Crank Depth and Variable Width

Instead of fixed depth notches, a hand crank on top of the tiller sets tine depth to any position, down to a maximum of 8 inches. The width narrows to 28 inches, or widens to 38 inches by adding four tines sold separately. In first gear the tines turn 20 times per wheel revolution for seedbed preparation; in second, 10 times for cultivating.

Handling a Heavy Tiller

A 180 lb tiller changes how the tractor turns. Lift the handlebars and let the tines clear the ground before pivoting at the headland, rather than dragging them round, and use the 750’s individual wheel brakes to tighten the turn. Fitting the transmission weights before heavy spring work is easier than discovering the need halfway through a field. BCS covers the tiller for three years residential and one year commercial.

Against the 30 Inch Tiller

The 30 inch tiller fits seven tractors, accepts the Precision Depth Roller and costs about half as much. The 33 inch HD earns its price only on a 750 doing large-scale or commercial tillage, where deeper single passes save hours.
