BCS 30″ Rear-Tine Tiller

The 30 inch tiller is the widest standard BCS tiller and is matched to the PowerSafe and professional tractors, from the 739 up. It covers ground faster for growers preparing larger areas, narrows to 26 inches when needed, and is the tiller to choose for the hydrostatic 779, whose wide track rules out the 26 inch model.

Width for Larger Plots

Four extra inches over the 26 inch tiller add up across a field: fewer passes to prepare a plot and a tilled strip wide enough that the 779’s 27 inch track stays on worked soil. The 30 inch tiller can be narrowed to 26 inches for beds laid out at that width, and it accepts the Precision Depth Roller for shallow, level seedbed finishing.

Depth and Safety Features

Four depth settings let the operator choose anything from shallow incorporation of compost to the full 8 inch maximum for breaking ground. A PTO lockout stops the tines from turning whenever the tractor is shifted into reverse, so backing out of a corner or away from a fence is safe with the tiller engaged.

Checking Tines Before the Season

Worn tines till shallower and leave more clods than new ones, and the wear creeps up slowly enough to go unnoticed. Compare the tine tips against a new one each spring, check that every tine bolt is tight, and replace tines as a set from BCS’s replacement kits rather than one at a time, so the rotor stays balanced.

Larger, Smaller or Heavier

The 26 inch tiller fits more tractors, including the 722 and 732, and is a little lighter on a 739. Commercial growers with a 750 can step up to the 33 inch HD tiller, which is heavier, adjustable from 28 to 38 inches, and tills deeper in one pass.
