BCS Spring-Loaded Metal Side Skirts for Power Harrow

BCS’s power harrow, built by Les Équipements Thivierge in Quebec, has been updated several times since it was introduced. In 2018 the rubber side flaps were replaced with spring-loaded metal side skirts, and this set brings that upgrade to older harrows.

Why Replace Rubber Flaps

The side flaps hold the stirred soil inside the harrow’s working width so it is not thrown into paths or neighboring beds. Even heavy-duty rubber wears out after years of regular use, and a worn flap lets soil spill. Spring-loaded metal skirts stand up to that wear far longer, which BCS describes as a worthwhile upgrade for harrows that see a lot of work.

Is It Needed?

Owners of a harrow from 2018 or later already have metal sides. For older harrows, look at the flaps at the end of the season: if they are torn, stiff or no longer reach the soil, it is time for the upgrade.

Harrows built before 2017 also used crank depth adjustment, which the Josephine height adjust lever replaces.
