BCS Plastic Mulch Roll, 3 ft x 2,400 ft

This 3 foot wide roll of plastic mulch is for flat beds. On the BCS plastic mulch layer it lays flat over level ground, with both edges buried, leaving about 26 inches of exposed plastic for planting. BCS sells it on a 2,400 foot roll, the length the mulch layer is designed to handle best, and describes its plastic mulch as non-toxic and PVC-free.

Flat Beds Only

BCS is clear that 3 foot rolls are not meant for raised beds: there is not enough width to cover the top and sides of a bed and still bury both edges. Use this width where crops are grown in flat beds, such as a single row of squash, melons or peppers on level ground.

Laying Conditions

Plastic lays tightest when the soil is well worked, dry and level, and on a calm day. Wind lifts the film before the closers bury it. A tight lay matters because loose plastic flaps, tears and lets weeds grow underneath.

3 ft or 4 ft

For 28 to 30 inch raised beds, or wider flat beds of 36 to 40 inches exposed, choose the 4 foot roll.
