Yanmar YRT104 46.5-Inch Rotary Tiller for Sub-Compact Tractors

The YRT104 is Yanmar’s smallest three-point rotary tiller, with a 46.5-inch working width sized for sub-compact tractors like the SA series. It turns sod, prepares garden beds and works in amendments to a depth of about seven inches, doing in one pass what a walk-behind tiller needs many hours to accomplish.

Sized for Small Tractors

The tiller weighs about 470 pounds and is recommended for tractors with 15 to 35 PTO horsepower. A slip clutch protects the driveline if the tines catch a root or rock, and the limited Category 1 hitch is quick-hitch compatible. Tilling in two passes, the first shallow and the second at full depth, gives a finer seedbed and puts less strain on a small tractor.

Garden Bed Preparation

A 46.5-inch tiller leaves a strip slightly wider than a sub-compact tractor’s rear track, so offsetting each pass by a few inches removes the tire marks. Removing large stones before tilling prevents bent tines and saves the slip clutch from repeated engagement.

Is This the Right Tiller?

The YRT104 fits gardens and food plots worked by sub-compact tractors. Larger compact tractors should step up to the 58.75-inch YRT205 or the 70.59-inch YRT206.
