Yanmar YMP201 14-Inch One-Bottom Turning Plow

The YMP201 is a single-bottom moldboard plow with a 14-inch plowshare, designed for compact tractors from about 25 to 50 HP. Turning plows slice and invert soil, burying weeds and crop residue while bringing fresh soil to the surface, which is still the best way to break new ground for gardens and food plots.

Construction

The frame is heavy-duty steel and weighs about 256 pounds. Plowshares and shins are replaceable, the moldboard measures 14 by 21 by 16 inches, and the hitch is Category 1 (not quick-hitch compatible). Setting the top link so the plow runs level front to back is the most important adjustment for an even furrow.

Plowing Tips

Plowing the first furrow straight, using a stake at the far end as a sight line, sets up every furrow after it. Adjusting the right lift arm lower than the left tilts the plow so the landside rides against the previous furrow wall, which gives a cleaner turn.

One Bottom or Two

The YMP201 is easier to pull and suits lighter tractors or first-time plowing. The two-bottom YMP202 turns twice as much ground per pass for tractors with more traction and weight.
