Description

Scag V-Ride LS 42 Inch Stand-On Mower with 18.5 HP Kawasaki FS

The 42 inch V-Ride LS with a Kawasaki FS600V at 18.5 horsepower, on a width unique to this range within Scag’s stand-on catalog.

The Stance Stays at 36 Inches

Every V-Ride LS tracks at 36 inches regardless of deck width, so a 42 inch deck already overhangs the wheels by three inches on each side. That is what lets the machine reach under fence lines from a narrow wheelbase, and it is also why an operator has to watch the trim side on ground that falls away. The overhang grows further on the 48 and 52 inch models.

Learn the Overhang on the First Property

A machine whose deck reaches well past its wheels will find every raised bed edge and tree root on a new site. Taking the first perimeter pass with the deck a notch high, then dropping to working height once the ground is known, avoids the scalping that otherwise happens on day one and gets blamed on the mower.

Blades Are Cheaper Than Deck Repairs

A blade that has struck something hard transmits the impact to the spindle, and running it on rather than replacing it puts that load through the bearing every revolution. Changing a damaged blade the same day is considerably cheaper than the spindle it eventually takes with it.

Choosing at 42 Inches

The SVLS-42H-20CX is the Briggs at a lower price with marginally more power, and is the better value of the two. At 36 inches the LS is narrower for gated work, and at 48 the deck grows while the stance does not.
