Description
Scag V-Ride II 52 Inch Simply the Brave Stand-On Mower
This is Scag’s Simply the Brave build of the 52 inch V-Ride II, fitted with a 40 horsepower Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI engine and flat-free airless tires, in the tan finish that distinguishes the series from Scag’s usual Cat’s Eye Gold.
Part of Scag’s Mowers For A Cause Range
Simply the Brave is Scag’s programme recognising military service and first responders, and the machines carry a distinct finish rather than a distinct specification. Scag also runs a year-round Simply the Brave discount for serving and retired fire, police and EMT personnel as well as active-duty military and veterans, which is separate from the machine itself and applied at point of sale against proof of service.
- Cutting width: 52 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck
- Engine: Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI, 40 HP
- Drive tires: flat-free airless
- Finish: Simply the Brave tan livery
- Fuel capacity: 8 gallons
- Forward speed: up to 10.5 mph
The Most Powerful 52 Inch Build
At 40 horsepower this is the largest engine offered behind a 52 inch V-Ride II deck, three more than the standard BIG BLOCK version. Combined with airless tires it is also the heaviest configuration at this width, which is worth knowing if the machine will be crossing soft ground or loading onto a trailer already carrying its full rated weight.
Looking After the Finish and the Casters
Machines bought partly for their appearance tend to get washed more often than working units, which is worth doing carefully. Water driven into the front caster pivots displaces grease and carries grit into the bearing, so the pivots want greasing after a wash rather than on a calendar. Letting the deck dry before parking also keeps the underside from packing a wet layer of clippings that holds moisture against the steel.
Buying a Programme Machine
Availability follows the programme rather than the ordinary production calendar, so if the livery matters to you it is worth checking what has been allocated rather than assuming it can be ordered later. Mechanically the closest standard equivalent is the SVRII-52V-37BV-EFI, and the SVRII-52V-26FT-EFI-NFT-P is the other limited-run build at this deck width.
