Description

Scag Turf Tiger II 72 Inch Zero-Turn with 38 HP Kohler EFI

This is the most affordable way into a 72 inch Turf Tiger II, pairing the widest deck in the range with a fuel-injected 38 horsepower Kohler. Every other machine at this width costs more.

Value at the Widest Deck

The price gap between this and the 40 horsepower Vanguard at the same width is small, and the gap to the DFI and diesel machines is substantial. For a contractor who wants 72 inches of Turf Tiger without moving into liquid cooling or diesel economics, this is where the range starts and it gives up nothing structural to be there.

  • Cutting width: 72 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck
  • Engine: Kohler EFI, 38 HP
  • Deck drive: driveshaft
  • Fuel capacity: 12 gallons
  • Width with chute down: 83 inches
  • Weight: approximately 1,556 lbs

Know the Weight Before the Trailer Arrives

At around 1,556 lbs this machine is heavier than many general-purpose trailers are rated to carry alongside anything else, and considerably heavier than the ramps supplied with them. Checking the trailer plate rather than assuming, and upgrading ramps before the machine arrives rather than after, avoids the most common and most avoidable problem with a first 72 inch purchase.

Loading a Machine You Cannot See Past

An 83 inch deck obscures most of what is in front of the machine when loading, and the ramp edges are exactly what an operator needs to see. A second person spotting from the side, rather than standing behind the trailer, makes this straightforward. Reversing up a ramp gives better visibility on many machines and is worth trying once in a yard rather than first on a verge.

The 72 Inch Turf Tigers

The STTII-72V-40BV-EFI adds two horsepower from a Vanguard for a small premium. Above both, the STTII-72V-31DFI is liquid-cooled and the STTII-72V-25KBD is the diesel for long-life fleets. Bluebird supplies a 72 inch version with airless tires as the STTII-72V-40BV-EFI-NFT-BB.
