Description

Scag Turf Tiger II 61 Inch Zero-Turn with 40 HP Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI

This is the configuration most crews mean when they say Turf Tiger: 61 inches of Velocity Plus deck, a fuel-injected 40 horsepower Vanguard BIG BLOCK, and the double-tube frame that defines the range. It is the volume machine in Scag’s flagship line.

The Argument for Standardising a Fleet

Because this configuration is common, it is also the easiest one to build a fleet around. Operators move between identical machines without adjusting, one spares inventory covers the lot, a fault on one can be diagnosed by comparison, and a crew short a mower can borrow from another site without anybody relearning a machine. Fleets assembled from whatever was available at each purchase never get any of that.

  • Cutting width: 61 inches, Velocity Plus cutter deck
  • Engine: Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI, 40 HP
  • Frame: double-tube steel
  • Drive: Hydro-Gear 16 cc pumps, Parker 18 ci motors
  • Fuel capacity: 12 gallons
  • Drive tires: 26 x 12-12

Buying the Second One Sooner Than You Need It

Fleets that replace machines one at a time on failure end up with a yard full of configurations. Deciding a standard and sticking to it through the next two or three purchases, even where a different machine was slightly cheaper that week, is worth more over five years than any individual saving. The discipline is the point rather than the model.

Keeping Two Machines Genuinely Identical

Fleets that standardise then let machines diverge through different accessories and different service intervals lose most of the benefit. Fitting the same catcher, the same tyres and the same blades across a pair, and servicing both at the lower hour reading, is what keeps them actually interchangeable rather than nominally so.

Reading Across the 61 Inch Turf Tigers

The STTII-61V-38CH-EFI is the Kohler just below on price and output. The STTII-61V-33BV is the carbureted entry, and the diesel STTII-61V-25KBD sits far above for long-life fleets. The Warrior STTII-61V-40BV-EFI-P and Simply the Brave STTII-61V-40BV-EFI-T are this machine in programme liveries at the same price.
