Description

Honda EB6500 6,500 Watt Industrial Generator for Multi-Tool Crews

Where the EB5000 covers one heavy tool at a time, the EB6500 is built for the moment two run together: a miter saw and a compressor, or a mixer and a grinder. It delivers 5,500 watts continuous and 6,500 at peak at 120 or 240 volts from the same 389 cc iGX390 engine and welded frame as its smaller sibling, and holds a 9.8 hour run at half load on a 6.2 gallon tank.

Headroom That Shows on Site

The extra 1,000 rated watts over the EB5000 matter most on long days where loads stack up. Honda’s iAVR technology still adds a 7,000 watt window for up to ten seconds for motor starts, but on the EB6500 that surge sits only modestly above the machine’s normal maximum, so the real gain is continuous capacity rather than starting power. The 120/240 V selector puts the full output on the 120 volt receptacles when that is all a job needs.

Protection and Compliance

Full GFCI protection with a neutral bond, OSHA worksite design, CO-MINDER carbon monoxide shutdown and Oil Alert are all standard. Electronic circuit breakers handle overloads, and the special muffler holds output to 64 dB(A) at half load and 67 at rated load, a low figure for a generator of this output.

EB6500 Ratings in Brief

  • Continuous 5,500 W (45.8/22.9 A), maximum 6,500 W (54.1/27.1 A)
  • Starting window: 7,000 W for 10 seconds via iAVR
  • Outlets: two 20 A GFCI duplex, 30 A 125 V and 30 A 125/250 V locking
  • Tank and run time: 6.2 gal, 6.4 hours rated, 9.8 hours half load
  • Dimensions 41.4 x 27.8 x 30.4 in, 215.8 lb dry, recoil start
  • Warranty 3 years residential, 1 year commercial; not sold in California

Cord Gauge Matters at This Size

A generator this capable is often let down by a long, thin extension cord that starves the tool at the far end. Run heavy loads on the 30 amp locking outlets through a properly rated cord and keep runs short, and the EB6500’s regulated output reaches the tool intact.

EB6500 Against Its Neighbors

Choose the EB5000, 5 lb lighter and less expensive, when a single heavy tool is the norm. Step to the EB10000 for electric start, a 50 amp outlet and nearly double the capacity, at almost twice the weight.
