Description

Honda EB5000 5,000 Watt Industrial Generator with iGX390 Engine

The EB5000 is a job-site generator sized for framing crews, remodelers and service trucks: 4,500 watts rated, 5,000 watts maximum, at 120 or 240 volts. Its computer-controlled 389 cc iGX390 engine and Honda’s iAVR regulation let it push 7,000 watts for up to ten seconds, enough to get a table saw, a compressor or a submersible pump past its starting draw without tripping.

Starting Surge Without Oversizing

Most of the time a crew’s load is modest, and the heavy moment is a motor spinning up. Rather than buying a larger generator for those few seconds, the EB5000’s iAVR output covers them, then settles back to steady, regulated power so corded tools and chargers see consistent voltage. A 120/240 V selector switch lets the full output feed the 120 volt outlets when nothing on site needs 240, limited only by each receptacle’s own rating.

Site Safety Built In

All outlets carry GFCI protection with a neutral bond, and the machine was designed to meet OSHA worksite requirements. CO-MINDER watches carbon monoxide levels around the unit and shuts it down before they become dangerous, while Oil Alert stops the engine if the oil runs low and electronic breakers protect against overloads.

Numbers for the EB5000

  • Rated / maximum output: 4,500 W (37.5/18.8 A) / 5,000 W (41.7/20.8 A)
  • Short-term iAVR output: 7,000 W for 10 seconds
  • Receptacles: two 20 A 125 V GFCI duplex, 30 A 125 V locking, 30 A 125/250 V locking
  • Run time on 6.2 gal: 7.1 hours at rated load, 10.5 hours at half load
  • Sound: 63 to 65 dB(A); weight 210.8 lb dry; recoil start
  • Coverage: 3 years residential, 1 year commercial

Daily Habit on a Shared Machine

When several trades share one generator, nobody owns the oil level. Make a dipstick check part of unloading the truck each morning; Oil Alert protects the engine but stops the work when it trips, usually mid-cut.

Matching the EB5000 to the Job

The EB6500 shares this frame, engine and outlet set and adds 1,000 rated watts for crews running two heavy tools at once. The EB2200i weighs a quarter as much and suits finish work where only one tool runs at a time. California buyers should note the EB5000 is not offered there.
