The PB-9510 is the most powerful backpack blower Echo builds. A 79.9 cc
professional two stroke produces 1,200 CFM at 230 MPH with 56 newtons of blowing
force, fed from a 100 fluid ounce fuel tank, at a dry weight of 27.8 lb. It is
available in tube mounted throttle form as the PB-9510T and hip mounted throttle
form as the PB-9510H.

56 Newtons in Context

Blowing force in newtons is the specification that actually predicts what a
blower will move, and 56 newtons is the top of Echo’s range by a clear margin. For
comparison, the 63.3 cc PB-770 series produces 33 newtons and the 79.9 cc PB-9010
series produces 48. The jump to 56 puts this machine into the work that defeats
everything else: leaf mats that have been rained on for a week and pressed flat,
compacted pine needle duff on a wooded lot, silt and mud packed into hardscape
joints, and winter sand and grit driven into turf. Material that a lesser blower
merely disturbs, this one removes.

Volume and Speed Together

1,200 CFM is the highest air volume in the range and 230 MPH keeps velocity in
the range where the stream still gets underneath settled material. Holding both
figures high at the same time is what allows large jobs to be finished in fewer

Metal Reinforced Tube

The Comfort System

Carrying 27.8 lb plus 100 ounces of fuel through a shift needs a proper
harness, and the PB-9510 has one: padded shoulder straps, a hip belt, a chest
strap and a vented back pad. The hip belt is the significant component, because it
transfers a share of the load off the shoulders and onto the pelvis, which is
where the human body carries weight most efficiently. The chest strap keeps the
shoulder straps from spreading under load. The vented back pad circulates air
between the machine and the operator’s back, which in summer conditions is what
determines how long the machine stays on.

Throttle Options

Echo offers this blower with either a tube mounted throttle or a hip mounted
throttle. Tube mounting puts output control in the aiming hand, which suits
properties needing constant modulation around beds, vehicles and hardscape. Hip
mounting frees both hands to manage the considerable reaction force, which suits
long continuous passes on open ground. Both use variable speed control.

Application

Fueling is by diaphragm carburetor with purge pump and starting is conventional
recoil. This machine belongs on large commercial and municipal sites, wooded
property cleanup and heavy seasonal leaf removal, and hearing protection is
appropriate given the output. Warranty is 5 year consumer and 2 year
commercial.
